Responsibilities
- Use the syllabus to prepare a well-structured lesson plan, teaching materials and aids, homework, and assignments
- Teach students the language of math, and how to apply mathematical principles to solve problems for primary school classes
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals
- Write grant proposals to gain funding for further research and create projects, designed to enhance lectures
- Utilize various curriculum resources
- Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans
- Utilize various curriculum resources that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served
- Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs
- Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met
- Tutor students on an individual basis
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Prepare and distribute required reports
- Observe, evaluate and grade students’ classwork, assignments, and overall performance
- Maintain student records such as attendance, grades, and other required records
- Plan, evaluate, and revise course content, and course materials and methods of instruction
- Understand and work in line with the school’s mission, vision, and core values
- Interact with students and parents periodically, to give an update about the performance of the students
- Provide behavioural and academic intervention for students as needed
- Collaborate with co-teachers and share knowledge on teaching and learning and also, support other teachers in developing good practice
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years cognate experience
- Good knowledge of lesson plan preparation
- Minimum of B.Ed./B.Sc./B.Engr. Science, Pure and Applied Math, or Engineering
- TRCN and Cambridge Teacher Training are added advantages
- A strong interest in Mathematics, Basic Science or technology subjects
- Compassion, understanding, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
